Simon Lawrence Director SafetyProSimon Lawrence - Director

I’m not your average safety hack who makes a living by peddling run-of-the-mill manuals and standard advice. I find that tedious and so would you. But when people tell me I have heard their needs and given them more than they expected, I call that a pretty good day.  I get a kick out of that.

For what it’s worth, my tertiary qualifications include BSc (Hons) Environmental Science (University of Plymouth, UK). In New Zealand, I worked as the health and safety coordinator for Alcan New Zealand before joining Melbourne based Richard Oliver, a risk management consultancy, in 1991.

I became self employed in 1999 and founded the consultancy that is now called SafetyPro. My strength is in providing high value occupational health and safety systems advice, auditing, training and coaching. I believe I can give best value by strong guidance, by knowing my subject area and by cutting through the myths and misunderstandings around occupational health and safety.

I can be outspoken about health and safety. It gets a “bad press” sometimes, due largely to an amount of misinterpretation and a lack of expertise by some consultants. Fact is, safety is about behaviour and while process and procedure are very important, the only two things that make it all work are leadership and individual responsibility.

I have developed a number of safety management systems, notably; “SafetyBase” which is a web based safety software solution evolved from many years of experience in safety auditing, coaching and trouble shooting.

If you’d like to talk, I would love to hear from you. Call (64) 9 535 4355 or toll free within New Zealand 0800 723 371

Blair’s role is exclusively in the development of “SafetyBase” and related IT products.Blair Forsyth - Technical Director

Blair networks himself as “Geeky Bastard” but we’re not sure that tag does him justice. Creative, insightful, imaginative and a brilliant problem solver, he has become an essential part of our business as it develops along the safety software track.

Blair’s role is exclusively in the development of “SafetyBase” and related IT products. He was closely involved in the original development as the architect of the product, which was scoped out of SafetyPro’s existing IP. He has over 20 years experience in IT and business. His roles have included project management of systems and business projects, IT management, systems design and programming. His acumen and problem solving abilities bring credibility and professionalism as we build our reputation in this field.

Blair has recently been instrumental in developing SafetyBase in conjunction with the requirements of two of our major clients and he is working to develop the IT platform into complimentary or related business management systems.

Steve Hoeksema

Steve is our contract programmer and is entirely responsible for writing the SafetyBase programme. He delivers the upgrades, does the tweaks, advises clients about technical queries and ensures the hosting service runs without a hitch.

Steve rarely needs to hear an idea or specification more than once before committing it to code and the quality and creativity of his work is second to none. It is in no small measure due to his skill and expertise that SafetyBase has developed into a world class software platform.
